Peter
was born in the late hours of the night on May 16, 2004. He is a stunning
black curly colt with four socks and facial white. I couldn't have been more
pleased with how he turned out. This colt was one of the most anticipated here
on our farm this season.. Sired by the fantastic sport pony stallion , Abita
Magic, he definatly has picked up a good share of his sire's elegance. In
addition to having received great stuff from his sire, he also shows the best of
his Curly dam's characteristics.. including her wonderful, athletic trot and her
truly remarkable temperament.
At the tender age of two
weeks old Peter loaded up into our trailer with his mom and went off for a day
"at school", where he was introduced to well over 100 elementary
school children of ages spanning 6 yrs old to 11 years.. There were special
needs children in wheelchairs, as well as a teacher who uses crutches to get
around. Peter and his mom took it all in with typical Curly aplomb and never took
a wrong step.. If you consider that Peter had only worn a halter once before and
had never been asked to lead anywhere let alone stand still for over an hour, it
is obvious that he has gotten some of the best brain cells
available..
Peter
is a super sweet, friendly colt that has a wonderful character to him.. He is
the smallest of my foals this year (of course he was also the last born and also
a pony foal to boot so one would expect him to be small), but he plays with
"the big boys" with the best of him.. He is outgoing and bold.. When I
went to take him to school I had him up front as we approached the trailer
with his mom following us (it was just me to load them both).. Peter walked
up to the trailer, sniffed it and jumped in (it is a step up) and then waited
inside while I convinced his mom to also get in. WOW, what a nice colt! In
addition to temperament, Peter is also blessed with exceptionally nice movement..
The boy can out trot his mom with tons of suspension and a huge reach for such a
little guy.. His also has a nice floating canter, that looks as if it will
be a joy to ride.. I very much look forward to having him inspected at the CSI
breeding stock inspections being held at my farm in July 2004. I am sure he will
do well!!

UPDATE!!! Peter took highest
honors at the July 2004 CSI inspections. He scored 8's across the board and
wowed the judge with his oustanding gaits and stellar disposition. Peter was
awarded the Site Champion Young Stock award for the Oregon inspections in 2004.
In addition Peter was awarded the CSI Young Stock National Champion award. He
was the highest scoring inspected Curly youngster in the nation! Congratulations
Peter!! We knew he had it in him!!
